Volunteer

“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

-Helen Keller

We will always accept anyone who wants to volunteer in any capacity! We understand that schedules, time, childcare, finances, and just life can impact how much or in what ways you are available to help. However, if you are interested in being involved, we WILL find a way for you to do it. This year, we are asking those interested in volunteering to fill out this brief survey to let us know your availability and interests. Using this information, we will contact you about opportunities that fit you. Thank you for considering giving a part of your time, skills, or resources to help our school community, and our children!

Becoming a Tier 3 Volunteer

Different opportunities come with different requirements to volunteer! Learn the differences below, and how you can become a Tier 3 volunteer so you can help with all types of needs across the school.

What can a Tier 1/2 volunteer do? Occasional volunteer work that takes place in a highly public setting, with constant supervision of a WCS employee (such as field days, book fairs, PTO meetings and fundraising events) does not require an application or background check.

What can a Tier 3 volunteer do? Tier 3 volunteers may participate in activities that involve unsupervised
contact with a student (such as chaperoning a field trip, escorting a child to the nurse, watching a classroom, one-on-one tutoring, etc.). This role requires a criminal background & fingerprint check through WCS Human Resources Department.

Here’s how to sign up for Tier 3 approval:

Step 1: Make an appointment and get fingerprinted

Visit this link for instructions
https://docs.wcs.edu/pdf/hr/Volunteer-Background-Check.pdf

Step 2: Submit the following form (only after fingerprinting is complete!) to notify the office: Badge Form (coming soon!). This form alerts BES to look for your name on the WCS Approved List. Please allow 3-5 weeks for your application and fingerprints to process.

Step 3: Await your confirmation email from BES for an invitation to a Badge Appointment

Step 4: Badge Day!

  • Fill out a confidentiality agreement at the front desk

  • Have your driver’s license photocopied at the front desk

  • Get your picture taken and your WCS Volunteer Badge will be made

You are now a WCS Tier 3 Volunteer!
